Adam, Eve, and Lilith

Adam's name literally means a man made of blood, which comes from PRE-BIBLICAL myths telling tales of a man formed from the clay of the Goddess of Earth and given life by HER own blood. According to Gnostic scriptures, Adam was not created by the power of God's word, but by Eve's. He didn't produce her from his rib, SHE created HIM from HERS. The biblical idea was a reversal of older myths that told of the Goddess bringing a primal male ancestor into being, then making him her mate. This type of ubiquitous, archetypical divine-incest relationship is traceable in every mythology. The origin of the reversal isn't even biblical. The Aryan patriarchs evolved this concept with their primal male ancestor. They claimed their god brought forth the Mother of All Living from his body, then mated with her, causing her to give birth to the rest of the universe. To me, this makes no sense, seeing as humans are supposedly created “in God's image.”
IF THAT'S SO TRUE, WHERE DID ANY GOD COME UP WITH THE IMAGE FOR A WOMAN??? WE DIDN'T JUST COME FROM NOWHERE! AND, TRUTH BE TOLD, MEN ARE BETTER COMPANY FOR MEN, AS WOMEN ARE FOR WOMEN, THAN THE OPPOSITE SEX EVER IS... THE ONLY REASON MEN NEED WOMEN IS FOR SEX (AND VICE VERSA, OF COURSE)... WHAT KIND OF GOD CREATES JUST ONE MAN AND JUST ONE WOMAN? I DISBELIEVE THE IDEA THAT ONLY ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN WERE CREATED I MEAN, INCEST WOULD BE THE ONLY WAY FOR HUMANS TO REPRODUCE, IF THAT WERE THE CASE, AND INCEST CAUSES DEFORMITIES ETC. MOST PEOPLE ARE THE SAME, WITHOUT DEFORMITIES ETC, SO WE OBVIOUSLY WERE NOT BORN BY INCEST FROM THE START. AS I SEE IT ANYWAY.

The creation tale most biblical religions know of, Adam and Eve, involves Adam's rib, in some form. This idea came from the idea that Adam's rib was taken from a Sumerian Goddess who formed infant's bones from their mothers' ribs.
THIS IS JUST ANOTHER THEORY, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO BELIEVE IN THE BIBLICAL CREATION MYTH INVOLVING ADAM AND EVE. THIS MAY HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE STORIES THAT SPAWNED THE BIBLICAL CREATION MYTH OF ADAM AND EVE, CHANGED SLIGHTLY.

As far as Eve goes, the bible neglected to mention a certain significant woman created before her. Lilith. Yes, that's right. Eve was not the first woman, even according to the biblical religions. THOSE WHO KNEW OF LILITH NEGLECTED TO MENTION HER TO ANYONE ESE IN AN ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THE MEMORY OF HER, FOR SHE WASN'T SO MUCH LIKE EVE, AND, AS I HAVE DETERMINED FOR MYSELF, THERE IS A LOT OF SEXISM IN THESE RELIGIONS.
Lilith was Adam's first wife and was supposedly so, according to the Hebraic tradition, due to growing tired of coupling with beasts.
THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE, BEASTIALITY! ISN'T THAT A SIN??? GASP!
In any case, Adam had similar beliefs as Catholics and Moslems, who both insisted that and sexual position other than the male-superior sexual position was sinful, saying, “Accursed be the man who maketh woman heaven and himself earth.” Lilith, however, was neither Catholic nor a Moslem, and sneered at the crudity of it, cursed Adam, then flew away.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, LILITH HAD A VERY STRONG MIND (AND WILL) OF HER OWN ABOUT THINGS.
When God sent his angels to fetch Lilith and return her to Adam, she cursed them, as well, ignored his command, and spent her time coupling with “demons,” giving birth to hundreds of children per day. Eve was simply Lilith's replacement, and a much more docile one, at that, which was the idea.
THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY THE CHURCH MANIPULATES WOMEN INTO BEING DIM, THOUGHTLESS SEX MACHINES FOR MEN THAT ALLOW MEN TO TAKE OVER AND DOMINATE THEIR ENTIRE WORLD! MORE SEXISM!!! (I am REALLY going to have to do something JUST on the sexism that saturates biblical religions)
Lilith's daughters were adopted in Christian mythology as harlots of hell, aka succubi. All of her the Daughters of Lilith were supposedly very beautiful, despite also being called Night-Hags, and so expert at lovemaking that no man could possibly be satisfied with any mortal woman after an encounter with one of the Night-Hags.
(I STAND BY THE NAME I HAVE CHOSEN... DAUGHTER OF LILITH. SHE IS MY SOUL'S MOTHER, AND HECATE IS MY PROTECTRESS, MY PATRONESS. HADES AWAITS MY RETURN TO THE UNDERWORLD, WHERE I WILL BE GIVEN WINGS TO FINALLY BE TRULY FREE OF THE CONFINES OF MY CAGE, ALSO KNOWN AS A BODY. (FYI, I don't KNOW that this is true, I simply think it sounds VERY nice. I am quite convinced of Lilith being my soul's mother and Hecate being my patroness, however!)
There is a rumor of Lilith being connected to the Etruscan divinity known as Leinth, who had no face and waited at the gate of the underworld along with Hades and Persephone (aka Hecate) to receive the souls of the dead. The gate was a yoni, also a lily, and admission was often rumored to be a sexual union. He relation between this Lily and Lilith lies in lily (also lilu or lotus) being Great Mother's flower-yoni, whose title formed Lilith's name.
SO I HONESTLY DON'T CARE IF I GO TO YOUR HEAVEN OR NOT. I WOULD PREFER NOT TO, TO BE HONEST. I WOULD MUCH RATHER RETURN TO MY MOTHER AND PATRONESS AT THE LOTUS GATE, WHICH WILL EMBRACE MY SOUL SO LONG AS MY SOUL IS ALIVE, SO TO SPEAK. Lilith, I love you. Hecate, I praise you. Hades, you are in my thoughts (and will be even moreso now that I know this). I KNOW WHERE I BELONG IS NOT ON EARTH. I HAVE LIVED MANY TIMES BEFORE AND KNOW THE FREEDOM OF THE AFTER-LIFE, EVEN IN THIS BODY. THE MEMORY OF THAT ULTIMATE FREEDOM IS BURNED INTO MY SOUL!

There is even question that the first human created, Adam, was even a man. As Barbara G. Walker said in one of her books, The first of the Bible's two creation myths (YES, YOU READ RIGHT, TWO CREATION MYTHS OF THE BIBLE) gives this Assyrian version, changing “she” to “he” (Genesis 1:27).

The original Eve had no spouse, but the serpent, an living phallus she created for her own pleasure. In fact, some ancient people even consider the Goddess and her serpent as their first parents (A TAD far fetched for me). The image of the evil serpent in the apple tree came from sacred icons showing the Goddess giving birth to man with her serpent coiled around an apple tree behind her. It was the deliberate misinterpretation of that symbol that gave life to the ideas that produced the revised creation myths, such as the one in Genesis. There were, however, some Jewish traditions that identified Jehovah with the serpent deity who accompanied the Mother in her garden.
According to Gnostic scriptures, Eve was obliged to punish Jehovah because he pretended to be the sole creator.

Another Gnostic story tells of God cursing Adam and Eve, expelling them from paradise out of jealousy of their happiness. He, lusting after Eve, raped her and begot her sons Jahveh and Elohim, aka Cain and Abel.
UH... EEEEWWWWW!!!

Patriarchs blamed the Mother for the fact that every living things dies because she gave it a finite life. Also, instead of blaming God for casting Adam out of paradise, they blamed Eve for this curse. Barbara G. Walker says: “The Wisdom of Jesus ben Sirach said evil began with Woman (aka Eve): 'because of her we all die.' Fathers of the Christian church said Eve conceived by the serpent and brought forth Death. The seeds of all women already existed in Eve, St. John Chrysostom maintained, so that in her sin 'the whole female race is transgressed.'”
OK, FIRST OFF, SINCE WHEN IS THERE A FEMALE RACE? THERE IS NO MALE RACE! WHAT THE HELL??? THIS IS just MORE OF THAT STUPID ASS SEXIST ATTITUDE AGAINST WOMEN! WHAT BS! WOMEN ARE THE BEARERS OF LIFE! NOT A FUCKING CURSE! WITHOUT WOMEN THERE WOULD BE NO MEN!!! SO EAT THAT FOR DINNER TONIGHT!

According to the Book of Enoch, God created death to punish humanity for Eve's sin, (UH... WHAT SIN WAS THAT, EXACTLY??? HAVING A BRAIN? QUESTIONING GOD AND THINKING FOR HERSELF? HOLY FUCK, IT'S NO WONDER WOMEN WERE, AND STILL ARE, SO BRAIN DEAD! IT'S CONSIDERED A SIN TO ACTUALLY THINK FOR OURSELVES, AS WOMEN!!! WHAT THE FUCK? MORE OF THAT SEXIST ATTITUDE AGAINST WOMEN!) but many patriarchal thinkers and religions didn't want to blame God, even in the most indirect fashion. They created their own opinion that when Eve disobeyed God that death just somehow happened.
OK, WITH RELIGION, THERE IS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS, NOT JUST SOME THINGS! THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF A RELIGION! GOSH, BIBLICAL RELIGIONS ARE SO CONTROVERSIAL SOMETIMES, IN MY OPINON, AT LEAST. I HAVE YET TO FIND SUCH CONTROVERSEY IN PAGANISM.
St. Paul only blamed Eve for the incident claiming “Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in transgression” and in 418 A. D. it became heresy to say death was a natural necessity and not the result of Eves disobedience.
OMFG! WHAT ASS HOLES! LIKE ADAM COULDN'T MAKE HIS OWN DECISION AND THINK FOR HIMSELF??? SO BLAME -HIM- EATING THE APPLE ON -HER-??? OK, SO IF EVE COULD HAVE HER OWN MIND, ADAM COULDN'T? YEAH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! WHAT FUCKING STUPID ASS HOLES MADE THAT CROCK OF SHIT UP? WEREN'T MEN SUPPOSED TO BE THE LEADERS ANYWAY? HA! OK HERE WE GO!
This is a quote from Barbara G. Walker's book The Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets about that issue: “This was the real origin of the church father's fear and hatred of women, which expanded into a sexist attitude that permeated all of western society: Woman was identified with Death. Her countervailing responsibility for birth was taken away, and the creation of life was laid to credit of the Father-god, whose priests claimed he could remove the curse of death.”
OKAY, SO THE ALL MIGHTY, POWERFUL, LOVING GOD COULD REMOVE THE “CURSE” OF DEATH FROM HUMANS, BUT DIDN'T? THAT MAKES SENSE... HONESTLY, HE SEEMS LIKE A DICK-HEAD! A TOTAL DOUCHE BAG! AND SINCE WHEN DO MEN GIVE BIRTH? HMM, LET'S LOOK BACK IN HISTORY... OH YEAH! NNNEEEVVVEEERRR!!! OH, and honestly, I'd rather die than be kept in this body. My body is a cage that only holds me back! It's not my ticket to freedom!
Apparently, God forgave Adam, but never forgave Eve. So, Eve is never forgiven for making the EXACT same mistake that Adam made!?! YEAH, THAT MAKES SENSE! Christian theologians believed the same idea as Persian patriarchs, that heaven was closed off to all women except those who were entirely submissive and worshiped their husbands like gods. LOOK! MORE SEXISM! MORE REASONS TO HATE WOMEN AND MAKE US FAR FROM WORSHIPPED OR EVEN SEEN AS EQUALS. PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO WHY SO MANY WOMEN WANT THIS BULLSHIT AND PUT THEMSELVES THROUGH IT!?!

Without the sins of Eve to back up their theology, churches would cease to exist. As Barbara G. Walker quotes, “Take the snake, the fruit-tree, and the woman from the tableau, ans we have no fall, no frowning Judge, no Inferno, no everlasting punishment-hence no need of a Savior. Thus the bottom falls out of the whole Christian theology.” Barbara also mentions that the restoration of books excluded from the canon would be equally as destructive. One such book is The Apocalypse of Adam. In that book, Adam stated that he and Eve were created together, but that Eve was his superior. Some texts even make Eve out to be superior to, not only Adam, but the creator as well. They said that it was she who cast down evil deities from heaven and made them demons, not God, and that she would eventually judge the God she created, as she is the eternal female Power in these texts, then find him guilty of injustice and destroy him.
SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. IF THE GOD SPOKEN OF IS THE SAME GOD SPOKEN OF IN THE BIBLE, THEN I BELIEVE HE SHOULD BE JUDGED BY ANOTHER POWER AND, IF JUDGED TO BE UNJUST, PUNISHED (OR DESTROYED WORKS TOO LOL, BUT I BELIEVE THAT IF HE WAS PUNISHING HUMAN KIND FOR SIMPLY BEING WHAT WE ARE, THEN HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED AS WELL). I DISAGREE WITH THE WAY HE DOES THINGS AND BASICALLY TREATES HUMANS LIKE AN ANIMAL THAT HE HAS STARVED, THEN SHOWS FOOD, BUT PUNISHES IT WHEN IT EATS THE FOOD!!!

It seems all I have heard of Christianity and Catholicism is that they took old myths and changed and twisted them to fit their own needs, making the old myths seem bad and evil and making their own out to be the one, only right way to live if you want to have a pleasant experience after death.

According to some, even God has a creator, or, in this case, creatress that existed before all other living things. God forgot that she made him and gave him some of her power. Barbara quotes, “He was even ignorant of his own Mother... It was because he was foolish and ignorant of his Mother that he said, 'I am God; there is none beside me.'” Gnostic texts show the creator reprimanded and punished for arrogance (WHICH I WISH WOULD BE DONE TO PEOPLE SOMETIMES!!!) by a feminine power that is greater and older than himself.

It just seems to me, most people really don't care to learn about the history of their religion and it bothers me that they are so willing to blindly follow it, not even knowing that much about it and sounding very ignorant, and sometimes stupid, when they discuss and defend it (their preferred religion, whatever it may be). I don't know of any Pagans that don't know their own religious history, as well as the religious history of other religions. I find religious history to be very interesting, albeit frustrating as well. I just wish hardcore religious people found it as interesting as I do. I'm not even all that religious, per se, I am more spiritual.

All I want is to inform people about the background of Christianity and Catholicism. If, after they have the knowledge I have to share, they still choose to be Christian or Catholic, that is perfectly fine with me. All I want is to know that the knowledge is being passed around. I also feel like sharing my own point of view on these issues, as you have clearly seen! Please understand that this is my own personal reflection upon my soul. Call it Hell if you choose, all I know is, if you are disgusted in me for being the way I am, we will end up in very different places when our time comes. I still don't know why I am on this planet, yet. I have been returned, for some reason. Perhaps I am learning patience in this life, there's no way to tell. Perhaps I will know before I pass from this life, though.

Abortion

Personally, I feel like a woman should be able to get an abortion, of her own decision, if she wants to. The only time I believe anyone other than the pregnant woman should have any knowledge of the pregnancy or abortion is if
a) she is under 18 years of age, and in that case, her legal guardian should know, but have a say in the matter,
b) if she is married, in that case her husband should at least know, but legally have no say in the matter, or
c)if she should decide to tell someone on her own

Otherwise, shut up and back off. Mind you OWN damn BUSINESS! (I am a VERY strong believer in minding my own business, as well as everyone ELSE minding their own). It's one thing to have an interest in what someone is doing, and being up in their business! Like, I have an interest in my best friends life, but I don't go telling her what to do or how to think!

Some people may believe that the husband should legally have a say in the matter, some don't, but, either way, that is a MORAL issue, not a legal one. That is no place for the government to have any say (if you hadn't noticed, I'm a tad Libertarian in my political beliefs, the government CAN NOT fix everything!!!). That does NOT effect the state (aka government), that effects the couple alone. Yes, they are “legally married,” however, it is, as I said, a moral issue, not a legal one. The only time the state/government cares about marriages at all is when someone is sick, dying, dead, etc, or when it comes to money. I realize this is generalized, but it is the basic truth of the matter. Deal with the fact that the government really has no place in my personal life and CAN NOT make me do what you want me to do if I don't want to do it. I think the government already has too many laws that interfere with people's personal lives.

“The ancients generally viewed abortion as a woman's private business, in which no man had any right to interfere. As Hartley put it, 'Each woman must be free to make her own choice; no man may safely decide for her; she must give life gladly to be able to give it well.'” -“The Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets” -- Barbara G. Walker

Also according to Barbara's research, the fetus was considered soulless before the fifth month of pregnancy and could be destroyed without concern of being held guilty of murder (ok, THAT I can agree with, to a point, but I STILL believe that the fetus is not conscious and aware until after it is born, but not everyone will agree with me, that much I know). That very opinion was adopted by the Catholic church's Doctrine of Passive Conception to prove the soul came from God alone in the fifth month up until the late 19th century, but, in 1869 the church revised it's opinion, leading to the contradiction that either God had misinformed them prior, or that he, himself, had decided to alter it.

In any case, the church changed the doctrine, then falsely pretends that it “always” opposed abortion. Did I NOT just say they approved it up to the fifth month!?! Okay, so now they are hypocrites and liars!?! The church was obviously not against killing the unborn, since they were burning pregnant women on the stake as witches. No one was immune. They burned and tortured the wife of a city councilor, even.

That makes me question the church's motive in changing the doctrine to further limit women in a sexist attitude. But that is another topic and will be discussed in a later post.

Most recently, legalized abortion is being opposed, Barbara G. Walker thinks possibly from ignorance of how recently it was illegalized and also, possibly, from the male belief that women must be controlled by forcing childbirth on them. But because abortion is illegal, thousands of women die, desperate to abort. The Catholic church still refuses to allow women authority over their own reproductive functions (hence their disdain for contraceptives and insistence upon only using abstinence as birth control, but we all know that it only works so long as you don't HAVE sex, so it's impossible to have sex and not get pregnant). In my opinion, this is another way to control women, since they are the only ones who CAN get pregnant.

This is just one reason I, personally, DO NOT like Christianity and Catholicism. It's my opinion and I'm not telling ANYONE that just because I see it this way, the should too. I simply want to expose the truth of the matter in the most respectful and tactful way I can. The main patriarchal religions are full of contradictions and sexist attitudes. I find it baffling that women can blindly follow it's rule when everything it preaches is against what women are, naturally.

Another Look at Punnett Squares

My boyfriend and I were talking about the possibility of having a child together, one day, and I mentioned how I'd really, very strongly, prefer to use his sperm, if possible, because I'd want the child to be OURS through and through. His DNA and my DNA, our genes combining to make a single miniature version of ourselves.

He and I both have blue eyes, curly, brown hair, and fleshy noses, among other things. I'm sure people will most certainly mistake him for my father. In any case, if/when we have a child, he/she will most certainly have these traits, I would imagine. But to be sure, I decided to look up the trait information online.

Blue eyes are recessive, so we both have 2 sets of the recessive gene in our DNA, when we pass it along, the only possible outcome is 2 recessive genes in our child, resulting in a blue-eyed child.

Free hanging ear lobes are a dominant gene, but that dominant gene may be masking a recessive gene, so that is an unknown factor. Either one, or both, of us could have 1 recessive and 1 dominant gene and our child could have either because of that factor.

The genetics that make up the fleshy nose, specifically, are neither dominant nor recessive. Instead, they are comprised of several different traits that are either recessive or dominant to create that look. I assume, however, since my boyfriend and I both have the fleshy noses, that our child will as well, but that is a factor that is impossible for me to predict.

Just wanted to share a bit. :-)

How a Book Can Change a Life...

Ok, so I've been blogging about my new books lately and how one, specifically, changed my life. I decided to share my story on that issue. Religion and spirituality are BIG topics for me, this is part of the reason why I am the way I am. I'll start with a quote from the book "Where to Park Your Broomstick: A Teen's Guide to Witchcraft" by Lauren Manoy

"Something I found interesting in my research was the common experience among shamans of being 'called.' Many didn't want to be shamans, and many resisted. They were plagued with horrible visions and happenings until they relented and took up their path in earnest. Many Witches whom I've spoken with describe a similar experience: the harder they fought against their natural psychic abilities, the longer they tried to fit into the current Christian mold and forget their early connection to other gods, the more intense their discomfort became, until they finally found out that they weren't alone!"

This very quote is the quote that changed me forever, for I was experiencing the very same thing the author was describing. I knew the instant the tears fell from my eyes that this is what I am, that this is what I need to do, follow, practice, and become. Call me a witch, call me a heathen, call me whatever you want. But I am, first and foremost, a person, second, a Pagan. This quote is about 50 pages into the book, so I'd read about the other Pagan religions, found them interesting, but nothing else in this book struck me quite the way that did. I cried. I knew, in my heart, that I had found what I was, unknowingly, looking for.

A question you may be wanting to ask is, "Why did you even have this book?" or maybe "How did you even come across the book if you didn't know you were looking for it or weren't looking at all?" My answer is, I think, interesting. I was in high school and I truly loved reading. I was looking for something a little different and stumbled across this book. I didn't even look inside it. I read the back of it and decided it sounded entertaining. So, I took it home. One day after school I decided to read it (maybe even the same day I picked it up, I'm thinking) and browsed through it a little, found it interesting enough, so I kept reading. I had no idea what to expect to find in this book, I was just reading it. I love to learn, so even reading a book on something I find mildly interesting can be fun and entertaining for me.

I was reading the book page my page, cover to cover, and as soon as I stumbled across that quote, I knew I'd leap in and not once look back. I still haven't, 5 years later, and I doubt I will at all. This is what makes my heart swell with joy and hope and happiness and fulfilment! I began taking things VERY seriously from that point on, in regards to Paganism and Wicca. I decided if I was going to follow that path, I had best know A LOT about it! I NEVER had enough information! I poured through book after book after book, searching for information, ANY information! My grades suffered, but this is what my heart needed! What my SOUL needed! I could NOT deny myself the one thing in the world that felt truly right to me.

Just like any religious person is when they find the religion that suits them, I WAS HOOKED. I honestly can't count how many books I have read on the matter, how many more I wish to read, how much information I have, and how much I don't. Just like anyone who learns anything complicated, such as science, or history, every time I learned something new, just ONE new thing, I'd have 5 more questions that needed answering!

I am a person with an old soul and a heart of gold. I am always seeking out more information, and this is me!
